Suspect Leads Sac Deputies And CHP On Chase

More Local News
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― A burglary suspect accused of targeting a woman who helps at-risk kids lead Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies and CHP officers on a high-speed chase through three counties Tuesday morning.

The chase began in Sacramento County where, deputies say, four suspects burglarized a "neighborhood grandma" who helps at-risk kids. The woman apparently spotted the suspects leaving her driveway, and recognized some of them as ones she helped as kids.

Police say the suspects stole some of the woman's checks and drove to a check cashing store on Watt Avenue. After the woman reported the checks stolen, the check cashing store was notified. They called the bank, who then called police.

When deputies arrived at the check store, they arrested two suspects. A third suspect drove off in a car and led deputies on a high-speed chase on westbound Interstate 80 through Yolo and Solano Counties reaching over 100 miles per hour at times. CHP officers joined the chase and attempted to stop the suspect by laying down a spike strip near Vacaville. The suspect tried to avoid the spike strip and spun out of control, hitting another car and coming to a stop, says the CHP. The suspect was arrested.

Authorities are searching for a fourth suspect.
