Sacramento's Mayor Wants To Add More Bike Racks
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
Sacramento's Mayor is on a mission to add more bike racks to the Downtown Area.
With sky high gas prices, there's been a dramatic increase in the number of bike riders.
Right now, any business that wants to add a bike rack must apply for two permits and pay a total of $440.
The mayor tells CBS 13 that's way too high. She wants the council to lower those costs and perhaps give incentives to businesses who add bike racks.
The riders we spoke with love the idea, saying they often have to lock their bikes around trees or fences.
If the mayor's plan is approved, the new bike racks could be installed within the next few months.
