Gov. Activates Plan For Heat, Air Emergencies
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
Governor Schwarzenegger is activating the state's plan for excessive heat emergencies as California prepares for another heatwave.
The decision comes after the National Weather Service forecast called for temperatures ranging from the 90s to 100s across the state, coupled with unhealthy air caused by a number of wildfires, according to the Governor.
"We are coordinating with state and local agencies to help keep people safe during this excessive heat wave," the Governor said. "I urge all Californians to take proper health precautions as the temperatures rise into the 90s and 100s across the state - drink plenty of water and check on your neighbors who may be more vulnerable," he added.
The state will now open cooling centers at state facilities and begin contacting licensed care facilities, hospitals and other facilities that serve seniors, persons with disabilities and other special needs populations.
