Citrus Heights Man Battles For Handyman Sign
CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) ―
Greg Antonucci is proud of his handyman sign.
"We're hand-cutting all the letters, that's what we're doing right now- hand-cutting all new letters for it and we keep it very well maintained and we made it out of cedar and redwood to look like the fencing here," explains Greg.
Apparently though, a couple of neighbors don't like it and reported it. That's when the Citrus Heights Code Enforcement Department issued an ultimatum: put up a sign that is up to code, which means it is one foot by one foot, or pay $420 in fines. Antonucci is fighting back.
"Remember, traffic passes here at 55 to 60 miles an hour, we have anywhere from 40 to 50,000 people driving past this sign every single day we designed this sign for visibility," says Greg.
Antonucci says he should be grandfathered in because he says the sign code was revised after he put up his sign.
Antonucci and his wife were told January 10th was their deadline, but when we talked with the city code enforcement we were told no final decision yet, and they may be reconsidering.
