Grant High Wins State Title
CARSON, Calif. (CBS13) ―
Grant High, the first Sacramento-area football team selected for a state bowl game, clinched the state title against Long Beach Poly on Saturday night.
The Grant High School Pacers took the Open Division State Championship against the Long Beach Polytechnic Jack Rabbits 25-20 after a late-game score that Long Beach was unable to answer.
With under a minute left, Long Beach missed a fourth down conversion by mere inches, turning over the ball on downs and allowing the Pacers to run out the clock on their final possession.
Grant High school finishes the season with an undefeated record of 14-0.
Long Beach is said to have one of the most polished football programs in the state and country. According to USA Today, they have sent more football players to the NFL than any other high school.
