Vacaville Goose Shot In Head With 4-Inch Dart

Mike'd Up Blog: The Challenge Of Photographing Geese

VACAVILLE (CBS13) ― Police in Vacaville are looking for the person responsible for a horrible case of animal abuse after finding a goose shot in the head with a dart.

Pictures show the thin four inch dart stuck in the goose's head.

The goose was rescued from Lagoon Valley Park in Vacaville Saturday.

Calls have been coming in about this goose for weeks, but by the time officers responded they couldn't find him in the pack of more than 100 birds.

Then one good samaritan grabbed the goose and held on to it until help arrived.

"The goose was off-balance, his equilibrium was off because of the dart," said animal control officer Emily Watson.

The goose is now recovering at a bird rescue center in Cordelia.

The Humane Society is offering a $2500 reward for information leading to an arrest.
