'Operation Golf Range' Aims To Send Help To Troops
MODESTO (CBS13) ―
When a local father got a special request from his son serving overseas in Iraq, he immediately jumped into action.
Modesto resident Bob Davidson is collecting golf equipment to send to the troops in Iraq. He started the 'drive' after getting a call from his son, Facility Engineer Group, Army Master Sergeant Robert Davidson, Jr.
The 23-year veteran and his fellow soldiers are building a golf course in Iraq near where they are stationed. According to Bob, his son says it will build morale and could be therapeutic.
And so, 'Operation Golf Range' was born and is in full-swing. After calling a couple of local golf courses, Bob already has collected dozens of clubs and buckets of balls. But they need more. Bob says his son would like to build the make-shift courses near all the U.S. bases in Iraq.
They don't care if the clubs or balls are used or new.
