Morning Gas Leak Forces Few Residents To Evacuate

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― A gas main break forced the evacuation of a handful of homes off center parkway this morning in South Sacramento.

Sacramento firefighters say a construction crew accidently dug through a line just after 9 a.m., sending natural gas into the air.

Six homes were evacuated. Center Parkway was closed between Mack Road and Bamford Drive for a couple of hours until PG&E could make the needed repairs.

Nearby schools were not affected, but fire crews were in direct contact with administrators.
