Thieves Steal Thousands In Gas From Car Dealership

FOLSOM (CBS13) ― Thieves looking for a way to get a steal on gas and police say they did that by stealing thousands of dollars of gas from a local car dealership without paying.

"By the time we found out we found $8,000 worth of gas stolen," explains Troy Pelzl.

Troy Pelzl runs the Folsom People's Jeep Chevrolet. Like most dealerships, they gas up with a purchase order system.

"Somebody went down to the gas station with forged purchase orders they had stole from us," says Troy.

The thieves had taken the slips from a secure spot inside the dealership and used them at a nearby Shell on Hazel Road.

When asked if the robbery could have been an inside job, Troy sadly agreed.

They only found out about the month long gas guzzle when a suspicious gas station manager called over to the dealership.

"She noticed when one car pulled in without the other putting the pump away," says Troy.

Now, Folsom P.D, is on the case spinning their wheels looking for a suspect.

"He is on videotape numerous times," says Troy.

Troy is done spinning his wheels on who's responsible and he's back to work.

They're campaigning to cost conscious car customers with guaranteed three dollar gas for three years.
