Foster Farms Dairy Takes 'Crystal' Name

MODESTO (AP) ― After 67 years as a Stanislaus County institution, Foster Farms Dairy and its products are getting a new name.

The new name is Crystal Cream and Butter Co., after the Sacramento producer Foster Farms bought last year. Dennis Roberts, vice president of sales and marketing, says Crystal Cream is better known across Northern California.

The company says the name change will not affect Foster Farms chicken, the largest poultry processor in the West, which is the better-known arm of the company.

While consumers will see the Crystal Cream brand, Foster Farms Dairy will remain the corporate name. The largest privately held dairy processor in the state employs 950 people in Modesto and Fresno and produces 3 million gallons a week.
