Folsom Declares Stage 2 Water Alert, Restrictions
FOLSOM (CBS13) ―
Facing drought conditions, the city of Folsom has declared a Stage 2 Water Alert and imposed mandatory water use restrictions.
The move comes after the Bureau of Reclamation cut water deliveries to Folsom by 25%.
The city is asking residents to cut water use by 20% by watering their yards on alternate days, using automated sprinklers during specific times and avoid over-watering. The mandatory restrictions take effect September 5 for both homes and businesses.
"We are hoping that residents will recognize the seriousness of the drought and comply voluntarily," said Folsom City Manager Kerry Miller said in a statement released today.
Folsom residents can schedule a free Water Wise house call or report water waste problems by calling 355-7252.
In June, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a statewide drought the first such declaration since 1991.
