Folsom City Cancels Portion Of Fireworks Show
The City of Folsom has decided to cancel part of its fireworks show this July 4th, citing fire danger.
Even though the aerial part of the fireworks display has been called off, the annual Folsom Pro Rodeo will still have a fireworks show inside the arena.
Folsom residents we spoke with understand the city's concern.
"It's just a shame, but I understand. It's just that the sky is awful right now. We don't want any more fires, but at the same time, it's the only one [show] that's really controlled," said Carol Waters, Folsom Resident.
Earlier this week in Monterey County, Governor Schwarzenegger urged Californians not to use fireworks.
"I know that the people that are selling all this stuff are going to go
crazy now when I say this, but don't buy fireworks," Schwarzenegger
said.
The threat of fire has already led communities across Northern California to nix plans for Fourth of July fireworks.
