UC Davis Study: Few Women In Calif. Corporate Jobs
SACRAMENTO (AP) ―
California companies often are lauded as progressive, but they fall short when it comes to having women at the top, according to a University of California, Davis study.
Researchers found that half the state's 400 largest public companies have no women in top executive positions. Just 13 of those have a woman as chief executive.
According to the fourth annual report, women hold 11 percent of board seats and executive positions.
Nicole Woolsey Biggart, dean of the UC Davis Graduate School of Management, says California companies are missing an opportunity for more diverse management.
Nara Bancorp, a Los Angeles-based lender, had the most women in corporate leadership. Half its executive positions and board seats are held by women.
