A feral cat, rescued on a dam two years ago, has grown up and is now cleaning up at cat competitions.
It took a baited trap to get the kitten off of his perilous perch on the Nimbus Dam in 2006, but it was Barbara Draws who saved him from being euthanized at the shelter.
"Your news team had already named him Nimbus, so I looked at him and said, 'Hi Nimbus,'" Barbara said.
Nimbus wasn't very friendly when they first met, but two years later, you could say Nimbus has matured. This past weekend, the formerly feral cat found fame at a Lodi cat show.
Despite being handled by a number of unfamiliar people, Nimbus turned on the charm and won over the judges. "He placed 10 times in the finals," Barbara said.
Nimbus got the gold in that show, but it may be the end of showbiz for the cat -- maybe he's had enough attention for all nine lives.
Besides, cameras bring back bad memories.
