Teen Dies In Elk Grove Wreck

ELK GROVE, Calif. (CBS13) ― A 19-year-old man was killed after his vehicle ran into a tree in Elk Grove early Sunday morning, according to authorities.

The Elk Grove Police Department said they found the white PT Cruiser badly damaged after smashing into several trees near Shana Way and Whitlock Parkway just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

The teen driver, identified by his family as Braeshaun Jackson, was the only occupant in the car and was only semi-conscious when emergency crews arrived.

Crews cut Jackson out of the car and rushed him to the hospital, where he died at 5:42 a.m., authorities said.

Jackson's family said that he was exhausted after leaving a friend's house and fell asleep at the wheel just a couple blocks from his home.

Police have not commented on the cause of the deadly accident.
