Girl Hospitalized After She Was Found In River

An 11-year-old girl is in critical condition today after she disappeared while playing in the river at Discovery Park.

The girl's family says that the girl was playing in the river at around 3:45 p.m. with her siblings. They say they looked away for only a few seconds, and when they looked back, she was gone. The family called called 911.

After searching for 30 minutes, firefighters found the girl in a shallow area of river. She was taken to the UC Davis Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition.

She was not wearing a life jacket at the time.
