Long-Time Sac Grocer Corti Bros. Is Staying
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
A rally planned for today to try and save longtime Sacramento gourmet grocery store Corti Brothers has turned into a celebration instead.
The store will remain open after a group that had planned to take over the building backed out of their plan. Now the building's owner will renegotiate the lease with Corti Brothers.
Back in July, the owners of Corti Bros. said they're landlords surprised them with an eviction notice. The landlord had planned to lease the building to a new store called Good Eats Grocer. But the backers of Good Eats say they're backing off their plan.
Corti Bros. has been in business since 1947 and today's rally is meant to honor Darrell Corti who is an internationally known wine and food expert. Local prominent chefs including Biba Caggiano, Randall Selland and Kurt Spataro will be at the rally.
