Local Coffee Cookies Going Global

NEVADA CITY (CBS13) ―
A local cookie company is going global with cookies that are made from coffee and packed with caffeine. Two cookies should equal the caffeine content of a cup of coffee.
After several years of trial and error, the business owners in Nevada City say they have the right recipe. Local cookie lovers say the Buzz Strong Coffee Cookies can do the trick just as well as a traditional brew.
"They are far easier to eat with milk than drink four or five cups of coffee," said Steffen Snell.
Creators Carl and Carolee Weisberg recently sent their first shipment overseas to Thailand, a huge milestone for the cookie company started in 1998.
"I thought it would take six months to get the product running," Carl said. "It's taken us 10 years."
The Weisbergs still work out of their home to keep costs down, but the family-run business is staying cautiously optimistic about continuing to grow.
"We have a lot of big doors open to us, some of the biggest out there," Carl said.
The next step, they say, is to create an organic recipe for these cookies.
