Ex-Deputy Withdraws Plea As Second Charge Is Added
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
A former Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputy being investigated in the murder of a correctional officer was back in court this morning and withdrew his non-guilty plea to weapons charges.
Former deputy Chu Vue walked into court this morning wearing a suit and holding his wife's hand. Vue's attorney's withdrew his not-guilty plea on charges of possessing an illegal assault rifle. Vue is being called a "possible suspect" in the murder of correctional officer Steve Lo who was allegedly having an affair with Vue's wife.
The withdraw of the plea was a procedural move so Vue's attorney's could gain access to the information and items found by Sacramento police during a search of Vue's home after the murder. His attorneys want to see what evidence prosecutors have linking him to Lo's murder.
Prosecutors also amended the complaint against Vue to add manufacturing of an illegal weapon. Vue entered a plea of not-guilty to the amended charge.
Prosecutors have argued that Vue is a suspect in the murder of Steve Lo because Vue's wife was having an affair with Lo prior to the shooting. She had even started divorce proceedings against Vue before the shooting. However, she has since stopped the divorce proceedings.
