Murder Suspect Arrested Trying To Skip Out On Bill
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) ―
Police say a man suspected of fatally stabbing his mother last month is under arrest after trying to leave a Fisherman's Wharf restaurant without paying.
Santa Rosa police had been looking for 41-year-old Christopher Lavis since his mother's stabbing death last month.
Restaurant workers on Friday grabbed Lavis as he tried to flee, and San Francisco police responded and learned Lavis was wanted.
Authorities found 63-year-old Connie LaSalle's body inside her Santa Rosa condominium when friends became concerned she hadn't answered calls. Police say she was stabbed multiple times and her body wrapped in blankets.
Police say LaSalle had supported her son through his battle with drug addiction, but had recently told him to leave.
Lavis is being held without bail in Sonoma County jail.
