Child Ejected Through Window In Crash
STOCKTON (CBS13) ―
Authorities say a child was thrown through a vehicle's window and was critically injured in an accident on Highway 26.
The California Highway Patrol says two cars collided near Beyer Lane on Tuesday afternoon, ejecting the child from the vehicle through the passenger window. The seven-year-old girl was unresponsive at the scene, but medical crews were able to resuscitate her on the way to the hospital.
The child's mother apparently failed to yield to oncoming traffic while turning onto Highway 26, and was t-boned by another vehicle. The mother and the driver of the other car were injured and were transported to the hospital with less serious injuries.
The young girl is now in serious condition.
Investigators will be checking to see if the girl's seatbelt was unfastened or if it broke during impact.
