Family Car Stolen With Dogs Inside

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― A pet owner is desperate to find her two dogs that were stolen along with the family car in front of a Sacramento restaurant. The car was recovered only a few blocks away, but the beloved pets are still missing.

"I think they kidnapped my dogs and sold them," said Jen Johnson.

Jen's two dogs, a two-year-old purebred Boston Terrier named Lady and a Queensland Heeler mix named Momma Bear, were inside her car when she ran into a restaurant near Stockton Avenue and 13th Street. The keys were in the car, the air conditioning was running and the doors unlocked.

It only took a few moments to pick up her take-out order at the restaurant, but when she stepped outside, her car was gone.

Police found her car parked in the driveway of an abandoned house a few blocks away.

"There were no dogs in the vehicle," Jen said. "It was heartbreaking."

Jen and her boyfriend spend time each day checking out local animal shelters, but have not found their pets yet.
