Burglars Ransack Church, Dozen Businesses

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― Burglars ransacked a church and a dozen other businesses in south Sacramento overnight, making off with expensive equipment and leaving costly damage behind.

The First Japanese Baptist Church suffered the loss of thousands in musical instruments, a vital part of their services. "I don't think they have a conscience," said Keiji Hashimoto.

The thieves also swiped a pricey overhead projector, but didn't stop there. A complex on Fruitridge was also hit, with nearly every business inside robbed.

J Banta Resources, a non-profit organization that helps needy fathers, lost cash and computers. "Whoever the criminals were didn't know what they were looking for," said Tilford Patterson from J Banta. "They rifled through all the drawers and opened all the closets."

The thefts took place in a commercial area, so police have yet to receive any tips.
