Boy, 12, Questioned In Shooting Of Elderly Woman

PIXLEY (AP) ― The sheriff's department has arrested a 12-year-old boy on suspicion of murder in the fatal shooting of his grandmother.

Tulare County Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Chris Douglass says the boy is being questioned about the death of his grandmother, 76-year-old Shirley Bowles.

Douglass says there was an argument between the two that led to a shooting at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, but he did not know what the dispute was about.

The department's violent crimes unit is questioning the boy, whose identity is not being released because of his age.

He is being held in the county's juvenile detention facility.
