New Solution: Biodegradable Plastic Bags
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
A restaurant goes through hundreds of to-go containers in one night.
"Raw" will soon be the first local restaurant to cut out Styrofoam for containers with a similar look, but a major difference.
Petroleum based bags and Styrofoam containers fill up landfills and trash the environment. The company Biosphere Alternatives claims their products which are approved by the FDA which solve that problem.
When it comes to cost, many prices are the same or at least comparable, which could make being earth friendly a little easier to swallow.
These products have been used overseas for years. There are plans to build a manufacturing plant in Fresno. Safeways, Raleys, school districts and fast food chains are looking into using these products. We could see them on the market in just a couple of months.
