Kayakers in the Berkeley Marina found a body Sunday that is feared to be that of 17-month-old Jashon Williams, who was reported missing early Saturday morning by his relatives.
On the south side of the marina four kayakers discovered what appeared to be a small decomposing body near a wooden dock.
"It looked like a baby," one said. "But it looked like it had been in the water for a long, long time."
Zoelina Williams, an Oakland woman, was beaten and shot to death on Friday at Aquatic Park in Berkeley. Her son Jashon went missing around the same time on Friday.
Curtis Martin the III, who was romantically linked to Williams, has been arrested.
Police said Sunday that they had no immediate confirmation the body is that of Jashon Williams, but Zoelina Williams' brother, Karim Toney, suspected the worst.
"They're not saying anything," he said. "They can't give us any information, but we put two and two together and it must be my nephew."
