Man Cleared Of Charges In Tahoe Bear Shooting
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE (AP) ―
A 59-year-old California man has been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing in the shooting of a bear last month at Lake Tahoe.
El Dorado County Chief Assistant District Attorney William Clark says they reviewed the case and decided not to file any charges against Danny Lukins of South Lake Tahoe.
The state Department of Fish and Game submitted a complaint to the district attorney after the shooting on 31st.
Lukins says he shot the bear once in self defense when it started charging at him.
Clark says Lukins immediately called 911 and reported the incident. He says Lukins told them the bear was about 28 yards away when he shot it. He says there was no proof beyond a reasonable doubt that he was lying.
