SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) ―
A man who allegedly took a truck and then led officers on a high speed chase before crashing this morning on Antelope Road has died, according to Citrus Heights police.
The crash shut down both directions of Antelope Road for several hours this morning. The suspect, who has not been identified, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected in the crash. He was taken to the hospital with major injuries and later died.
It appears the truck broke apart in the crash scattering debris across the roadway.
Police say the chase began as a stolen truck report in Citrus Heights and ended in the Antelope area.
Citrus Heights police began chasing the vehicle and were eventually joined by the highway patrol.
The suspect then sideswiped another vehicle and then crashed just west of Don Julio on Antelope Road.
