Kidnapped Child Found Alive, Suspect Arrested

YREKA, Calif (CBS13) ― The three-year-old girl who was taken from her Northern California home during a burglary Monday morning has been found, according to Yreka Police.

Yreka Police Lt. Dave Gamache said the girl's parents met 22-year-old Kody Lee Kaplon during a party at their house Sunday night. The girl's father was awakened around 4:30 a.m. by her screams and reportedly saw Kaplon drive off with her.

The alleged abductor, 22-year-old Kody Lee Kaplon, surrendered Monday after calling an Amber Alert hotline. He has denied abducting the girl.

The victim was found a short time later walking along the side of a service road without any clothes on. Gamache says the girl appeared to be fine and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The parents of the girl said the suspect is a family acquaintance who they've known for years. "I was just panicking at first," Ryan Collins, the girl's father, said. "I didn't know what to think. I still can't believe it, really."

The car the victim was allegedly abducted in -- a green Pontiac Grand Am with California license plate 3WKA651 -- has not been found.
