Woman Fights Off Armed Suspect At Her Residence

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― A mother fights back as a bold bandit tries to snag her purse outside her home. But, the would-be purse-snatcher didn't back down and he pulled out a gun, and pointed it right at the woman.

"I didn't have time to be scared or think things through, I just reacted," says Nancy Gibbs.

Nancy Gibbs says her Natomas neighborhood is safe. She's never had any problems, until early this morning.

"I unlocked the door and felt a tug at my purse," explains Nancy.

When she turned around, she saw a man with a hooded sweatshirt and a gun.

"I stepped backwards and yanked my purse again because it was on my shoulder, and he had a hold of the bottom of it and I pushed and tried to get a center of gravity," she tells CBS13.

That's when the would-be thief fired a shot; the bullet just missed her head. Nancy then called for her son Justin, who was a sleep in his bedroom.

"I heard the gunshot and I recognized it for what it was," Justin tells CBS13.

By then, the suspect had run away.

"I still have my purse," says Nancy.

Police are very concerned about this case, because this suspect obviously is not afraid to use force.
