Local Man Accused Of Trying To Ship Marijuana

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― A suspicious smelling package at UPS has lead police to a major drug and weapons bust. What brown can't do for you is mail marijuana. That's what one man is accused of trying to do.

"I wouldn't say he's the smartest guy in the world for attempting to ship it UPS without even trying to disguise the odor of it," says one officer.

Beau Harris may not have tried to disguise his alleged package, but he did try and disguise himself from us

As the dog barked outside his home, a Toyota 4 Runner drove up. The man who got out of the SUV told usĀ  they could find him in the jail, when oddly enough the gentlemen looked to be Harris. Investigator Mike Hudson would know, he arrested Harris.

"He had close to $100,000 worth of marijuana that he would've processed and gotten out on the streets," says Hudson.

Hudson says it was all in Harris' house, discovered only after he tried to mail the marijuana, left, and came back with more.

"The second package didn't have any contraband in it. He just happened to show up, the clerk calls the sheriffs department and says he's back. The Sheriff Department goes back and detains him," explains Hudson.

That interview led to a search of Harris' home, the discovery of illegal weapons and more marijuana than even a licensed pot user could justify.

"Sometimes the stupid criminals fall in our laps, and this guy fell in our laps," says Hudson.
