Truck Driver Out Of Luck After Company Goes Under
TURLOCK (CBS13) ―
A local trucking company goes under and now one employee is not only out of a job, but also without a home after his truck was repossessed. But how did all this happen?
While on the road, traveling from state to state, truck drivers work and live out of their big rig.
August Watkins and his traveling buddy "Baby" enjoy the lifestyle. That is until yesterday when they were pulled over in the semi-truck by a repo man in Turlock.
The truck was towed away because the towing company that he works for, M-T Express, did not pay their bills, says Watkins. This left Watkins to fend for himself.
"Basically left me on the road empty handed," says Watkins.
CBS13 called several numbers and checked out a couple addresses but could not track down M-T Express. Watkins says they have yet to call, let alone pay him since the repossession.
"It's their fault for not taking their priorities and their business and everything else," he explains.
Meanwhile, with only a few dollars in his pocket, Watkins is staying at a motel. Watkins tells CBS13 that a clearly used pick-up truck is his backup plan when the money runs out.
"I'll live in my truck if I have to," he says.
Although Watkins is upset about his recent mishap, he says he'll eventually rise above it.
"You gotta keep your head high," Watkins said.
