Students Drive In The Past At Towe Auto Museum
by John Iander
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
If you love driving cars, you'll love a class where students get to drive in the past.
It's what got America out of wagons and on to the gasoline highway.
"The Model T Ford because it was so inexpensive and simple and easy to operate is what brought the farmer to town back in the twenties and teens," says historian Joe Montgomery.
More than fifteen million model T's rolled off Ford's assembly line. Model T enthusiast Joe Montgomery was hooked early.
"I grew up on a farm in Missouri and several people had Model T's. I bought my first Model T about twenty five years ago and kind of got hooked," he says.
Joe and other historians teach a Model T class at Sacramento's Towe Auto Museum.
"I have a Model T and I just need to know more about how it going and running and enjoy it," says Model T owner Andy Gianulius.
Race car driver Bill Sessa has never driven a T until now. Remember, the pedal on the left is the clutch plus low and high gear. The middle pedal is reverse and the brake is on the right. After a few minutes, it all comes together and a new Model T enthusiast is born.
The next Model "T" class is scheduled for September 8th at the Towe Auto Museum in Sacramento.
