Father Of 3 Dies Trying To Stop Tow Truck Thief
Police are now offering a reward in the death of man who tried to stop a thief from stealing his tow truck outside a Modesto market last night.
Police say the victim, 31-year-old Christopher Sisk was buying coffee inside Swaid's Market on Hatch Road around 10:00pm last. Sisk is a tow truck driver for his family's A&R Towing in Modesto and had parked his tow truck in front of the market.
Sisk ran outside to confront a man he saw in the driver's seat of his truck.
Sisk tried to get inside his truck but the suspect started to drive away, running Sisk over.
He suffered major injuries to his head and chest and later died at Doctor's Medical Center in Modesto.
Friends of Sisk have gathered outside Swaid's Market where he was apparently a regular customer. They have set-up a small memorial to remember the husband and father of three. His friends say they know why Sisk confronted the thief.
"He wasn't gonna let no one just take his tow truck," Sisk's friend Steven Prue told CBS13, "That's something that his dad worked for. He loved his dad. He'd do anything for him. He wasn't going to let anyone just take something that his dad worked so hard for."
Police found the abandoned tow truck about an hour after is was stolen on Lombardy Street in Modesto but the suspect is still missing.
Witnesses described the suspect as a black male in his early 20's, about 6'00" tall, wearing dark clothing and a white bandana or t-shirt on his head.
