Study Finds Few Female Execs At Calif. Companies
SACRAMENTO (AP) ―
A university study shows women have made little progress in joining the executive suites or boardrooms of California companies.
The University of California, Davis study says women account for about 10 percent of executives and board members at the 400 largest publicly traded companies headquartered in California.
Steven Currall, dean of the university's Graduate School of Management, says the findings have not changed significantly since the first survey in 2005.
The university's annual survey, released Wednesday, is based on reports California-based companies filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Nearly 30 percent of the companies have no women on the board of directors or in executive positions like CEO and chief financial officer.
