Police: Mother Accused Of Branding Toddler

More Local News
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― A mother is accused of carving her initials into her toddler's skin. CBS13 went to the Sacramento County Jail where the mother spoke only to CBS13.

"I have never harmed my kids," says Sergaye Lafeyette.

Accusations of branding her baby girl with the letter "S", the 23-year-old's first initial, is now behind bars at the Sacramento County Jail.

"They say I was tested positive for PCP, that's not a drug that I do. My drug of choice is marijuana," says Lafeyette.

On July 13, the last supervised visit before foster parents adopted her children, she took them until authorities caught up with her on Monday and brought the children to a center for abused children, where a doctor found diaper rashes all over her 15-month-old baby.

"And I was just on the run with them wherever I could stay, that where I was," she tells CBS13.

"Authorities also found the letter 'S' carved in the buttocks of your 15-month-old, did you do that?" asked CBS13 reporter, Elyce Kirchner.

"No, why is there an 'S' in the buttocks of a 15-month-old child. Somebody else I don't know has to do that," replied Lafeyette.

"Per the doctors, they looked at and they felt the wounds were about a week old which would be consistent with the time frame that she had the children," say authorities.
