'Grinch Patrol': Police Group Targets Shoplifters
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
There are some who know they'll be busier than normal this holiday season; the police. With a down economy, they're counting on crime going up. Now, deputies are on 'Grinch Patrol.'
Confused shoppers, cars packed with presents and burglars lurking where you cannot see them. This is why the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department is watching and waiting.
"I mean its perfect opportunity. That's why we're out here," says Sgt. Dean Pai.
Police are undercover, on the road and out in the open in marked cars. They are also traveling on motorcycles and bicycles.
Police say that the 'Grinch Patrol' and has their first bust of this season for giving. A woman accused of carrying out a cartful of stolen stuff from a local Walmart was caught and arrested.
