More Local News
SUSANVILLE (AP) ― Authorities say a pilot was killed when his small plane crashed in Northern California near the Nevada border.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says a single-engine Cessna 182 left Susanville for Lodi on Friday afternoon. The plane crashed around 1 p.m., just two miles north of the Susanville airport.

Gregor says the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will conduct an investigation. There was heavy snowfall and visibility was low at the time of the crash.

The plane is registered to Harold Gartner III of Janesville, Calif. There was no answer at the telephone number listed for Gartner.
