Two Arrested In Fatal Attempted Carjacking

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― Sacramento police have arrested two people in connection with a fatal shooting on Monday in South Sacramento.

22-year-old Brandon Morton and 22-year-old Holly Sarmento are behind bars in the shooting death of a 35-year-old Jason Fletcher.

Police say the shooting happened just after midnight yesterday.  They believe the shooting appears to have been over a drug deal.  During the fight, the suspect attempted to take the Fletcher's car.

Police originally were called to the Brookfield Drive after shots were reported.  When they arrived, they found a large amount of blood, but no victim.  Officers say Fletcher had been driven to a nearby hospital by his friends.

Morton and Sarmento have been booked into the Sacramento County Jail on murder and attempted carjacking charges.
