CBS13 Goes Inside The Home Of Mario Garcia

by Tony Lopez
AUBURN, Calif. (CBS13) ― CBS13 takes you inside the home of convicted killer Mario Garcia, where his wife breaks her silence and tells us how she plans to set her husband free. Garcia family says they used to live a normal life.

You won't find much shade these days under the giant trees that stand in front of this auburn home.

But predictably, you will find a woman who's standing by her man.

Jean Garcia says she has no idea what happened to Christie Wilson.

She's seen what we've all seen, surveillance video showing her husband and Wilson walking out of Thunder Valley Casino.

As to what happened next that dark October morning to the 28-year-old Sacramento woman.

"I really don't know, I really don't know," she says.

She is certain of one thing.

"Mario is not a murderer, he's very kind, he's very kind," she says.

Words spoken during an exclusive interview with CBS' 48 hours no doubt cut like a knife for Christie Wilson's family, whose emotional reaction to the guilty verdict made it clear they'd have no sympathy for what Mario Garcia is now going through.

A family that's now torn apart and selling off their belongings piece by piece.

"The only furniture I have right now is the family room and I already sold the refrigerator, it's going to be picked up on Friday," says Garcia.

"I have lost everything. My job, my car, my belongings, I'm close to losing my house," she says.

Just weeks after taping this interview, close became a done deal. That house is gone. But so is Christie Wilson.

The jury didn't buy what Mario Garcia had to say. Prosecutors argued Garcia killed Wilson and dumped her body somewhere. Wilson's family has searched for months.
