Mario Garcia Interrogation Video Shown To Court
by John Iander
(CBS 13)
The 36-minute-long video tape was made in a Sheriff's interrogation room. It showed a compliant Mario Garcia describing his last hours with Christie while the two were playing cards at the Thunder Valley Casino.
Garcia admitted both were intoxicated on wine and losing money. Christie struck up a conversation and asked to borrow $50. Garcia then says Christie came on to him but he wasn't interested.
Garcia told detectives that at about one o'clock in the morning that he wanted to head home. Christie followed him through the parking lot toward his Toyota Camry. Garcia then said that he thought Christie was going to proceed to her BMW parked nearby. Garcia then said that Christie forgot her cell phone and turned back to the casino. And that's the last time, Garcia says, he saw her.
When asked if he was intimate with Christie, Garcia said 'no', saying that he wanted to get home to his wife and didn't want to chance getting a sexually transmitted disease.
Today Christie's mother, Debbie Boyd, told CBS 13 that watching the video was tough, and she is reminded of her daughter's last family email with a picture of Christie's pet.
"The picture that she sent was a picture of her little kitty with a pumpkin hat on. And, um that's what we all got with the little 'Happy Halloween' greeting," said Boyd.
And more today on the scratches and Poison Oak Garcia says he received when he fell while trimming a tree at his home. A doctor examined him and said that his injuries look more like a punch in the eye and that he'd been clawed in the face.
The court is recessed until Monday.
The family says it will stay here and conduct another search for any signs of Christie this weekend.
