LODI, Calif. (CBS13) ― A student from Lodi saw the devastation first hand as he helped students who were shot. He is a volunteer EMT on the campus of Virginia Tech.

As the campus of Virginia Tech became the face of horror, his could be considered a face of heroism. Troy Hoff, a graduate and swimming stand-out from Lodi High School is a graduate student at Virginia Tech.

According to the Stockton Record, after the shootings, Hoff volunteered his medical help to the wounded.

Hoff's mother Nancy is a doctor in Lodi. A family member says she's on her way to Blacksburg to be with her son.
