Light Rail Service In Rancho Cordova Running Again

More Local News
RANCHO CORDOVA (AP) ― Light rail service through the Sacramento suburb of Rancho Cordova is operating again after copper thieves forced the service to shut down for about 12 hours.

The Sacramento Regional Transit system's Gold Line resumed service around 5:55 p.m. Thursday after officials say copper wire was stolen near train crossings.

With sections of wire missing, transit workers say the first train passing through the area early Thursday blew fuses impacting crossing signals and gates.

It's believed the wire was stolen by thieves using wire cutters sometime between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. Thursday.

Buses were used to ferry passenger during the shutdown while repairs were made.
