Suspect In Deputy Slaying To Be Tried As Adult

Jimmy Siakasorn is accused of shooting and killing Deputy Vu Nguyen on Wednesday in South Sacramento, sparking a huge manhunt.

The 16-year-old suspected gang member who allegedly shot and killed a Sacramento County Sheriff's deputy Wednesday will be tried as an adult.
Jimmy Siakasorn, is being charged as an adult due to special circumstances. Most notably, that he allegedly killed Deputy Nguyen and also that he allegedly did it to promote gang activity, according to a Sacramento D.A.'s Office press release.
Because the suspect is a minor, he is not eligible to receive the death penalty. If convicted, he faces the maximum sentence of life in prison.
Siakasorn will be arraigned on Dec. 24 at 1:30 p.m.
