A 50-year-old Woodland
man has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for supplying a revolver
used to kill a California Highway Patrol officer.
Gregory Zielesch was sentenced for murder and conspiracy Friday for his
role in the death of 37-year-old Andy Stevens, who was fatally shot during a
traffic stop in November 2007 near Woodland.
A Yolo County
judge earlier this year ordered the death penalty for the shooter, 22-year-old
Brendt Volarvich of Roseville.
Prosecutors say Zielesch gave the gun to
Volarvich to kill a man who was involved with Zielesch's estranged wife
Zielesch's mother says he plans to appeal.
