Stockton Company Making "Green" Fireplace Logs
STOCKTON (CBS13) ―
New burn rules have people searching for alternatives when it comes to their fireplace.
And it turns out one of the cleaner burning choices is made in the valley.
Duraflame is producing logs made mostly of wood fiber, ground up nuts and shells plus plant oils.
The Stockton company says one of their firelogs burns with the same intensity of up to 5 wood logs.
"This year one of the big changes for our company is that we decided to re-formulate from petroleum based waxes to natural waxes derived from plant and vegetable sources," said Chris Carson of Duraflame, "Now we can say it is a truly renewable product.."
Air districts in Portland and in Washington state are now recommending that fireplace owners burn artificial logs rather than wood.
