8 Locals Arrested In Connection With SDSU Bust

San Diego State Suspends 6 Frats After Drug Sweep

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― Seventy-five San Diego State University students are now under arrest. One is a criminal justice major. Feds said they found cocaine and two guns on him. At least another 20 people connected to the drug operation are also behind bars. Unfortunately, there's a local connection to the largest college campus drug bust in U.S. history.

At least eight students from our area are under arrest.

From a future with homeland security to the possibility of prison, in all, 96 people are looking at hard time for selling hard drugs. Undercover DEA video shows one of the sales going down.

Other pictures show the drugs, guns, and money seized in operation sudden fall. Investigators say at least seven San Diego State fraternities were involved in drug rings.

There's a mass text message from one student dealer saying, "Attention faithful customers, both myself and my associates will be in Vegas this coming weekend. Bad news is we will not be here to complete sales."

After the bust it looks like sales could be complete on this college campus.

"I dare say many universities in our country have the same issue," said a DEA agent.

Like at Sac State, where students are hearing about the big bust.

"It doesn't surprise me at all," said Justin Switzler, Sac State student.

"Drugs are everywhere," said Roberto Torres, Sac State student.

"I mean, the richer you are the better the drugs you have. Ha ha!" said Maxfield.

Some students slide through school seeing drugs as being as much a part of college as class.

Mike: "So, when was the last time you went to a party when there wasn't marijuana or something else there illegal?"

Maxfield: "Never. Ha ha! I'm not gonna lie. Never. Ha ha"

The big bust in San Diego might be a big wake up call for college students everywhere. Maybe even more for their parents.
