Sacramento County To Revamp Trash Days
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
Curbside changes are coming for many people living in Sacramento County. In an attempt to save nearly $2 million dollars, The county is switching up its trash pickup schedule.
Officials say the move will affect 80 percent of the people who rely on Sacramento County to haul their garbage.
The County serves 150,000 customers, but for 120,000, trash day will no longer be the same. For 80 percent of people in Sacramento County, trash day is about to be on a different day.
The County says it can save $1.8 million dollars a year by revamping the pickup path, by spending less by using fewer trucks, bigger newer trucks, and using a more efficient route.
The changes begin on Monday, the first test of whether decades of habit can be thrown away in an instant.
The County will be sending out cards in the mail with the new trash day on the front. If you're not sure, you can go on the sacgreenteam.com website or call Waste Management at 875-5555.
