Webber Breaks Ground On Sacramento Restaurant

NATOMAS (CBS 13) ― Chris Webber's first step into the restaurant business today started off with a few laughs, as he lost his shoe in some thick mud. The mud though, was not about to stop Webber. He's turning a field in Natomas into a brand new restaurant called "Center Court with C-Webb".

It will be a basketball themed, family restaurant with menu items like hamburgers, pizza, and of course Webber's favorite pre-game meal.

"On game days I usually eat chicken sandwiches with a mix of hot sauce, ketchup and rice. That's probably pretty simple for most people. I eat that every game, so that will be on there", says Webber.

Webber has had his hand in every aspect of the restaurant from the layout, to picking out colors. But there is one thing he wont be doing.

"I won't be cooking, because I'm not a chef", he says, "There will be a lot of different things on the menu, hopefully if I twist his [the chef's] arm he'll make it".

Webber has been working on the restaurant since 2003, long before he was traded. He says he never thought about backing out.

"Sacramento will always be a place that I consider to be my home. I wanted to have something out here while I was playing, after the trade I still wanted to have something that will be a part of me here in Sacramento", he says.

Webber also says he is not concerned about the possibility of the Kings leaving Sacramento.

"We did it because of the basketball fans in Sacramento, but we also did it for the number of families in this area. It's a restaurant with a basketball theme. God forbid there's not a sports team here, but I still think it will be successful", he says.
