One Dead In Multi-Car Crash In Sutter County

NICHOLAUS (CBS13) ― One person was killed today in a multi-vehicle accident involving a bus on El Centro Blvd. just south of Marcum Rd. in Sutter County.

The CHP says an Acura was heading northbound on El Centro at around 1:30 p.m. when it pulled out into the oncoming lane of traffic to pass an Amtrak bus and hit a Nissan van. As a result, the van hit the bus, sending the bus off the road.

One person in the van died at the scene.

Another person was injured in the crash and was taken to the UC Davis Trauma Center. Three other people suffered minor injuries.
 
Authorities say the bus, which was traveling from Sacramento to Medford, Oregon, was carrying as many as 18 passengers.

A second bus has been sent to pick up the uninjured passengers and finish the trip.
